Dog Sledding 101

Alaskan Husky sled dogs are your instructors as they greet you on campus for this engaging course. Students will actively participate with the dogs, musher, and equipment. You'll learn about caring for, handling, training and traveling with these amazing dogs. For a lively exchange about sled dogs, come prepared with YOUR interests in these canine athletes. Then the class moves off campus to neighboring Jorgenson's Sled Dog Kennel - a working kennel with over 20 years experience. We'll hook up the dogs and set out for a one-hour ride through the scenic Superior National Forest. You will leave this class with a real appreciation of traditional use of working dogs and an understanding of the modern-day dog-powered sports.
