Nutshell Pram: Build Your Own Sail Craft or Row Boat

The Nutshell Pram, a classic boat design by Joel White, is a wonderful small wooden boat that rows, tows, and sails well. Constructed from top-grade marine plywood, this handsome little boat is lightweight and can carry a big load. This is your opportunity to build your own 7'7" Nutshell Pram in North House's harborside boatbuilding workshop under the direction of small boat enthusiast and boat builder, Art Kidd. Students may choose to build the Nutshell Pram to accommodate a sail, including a centerboard, spars, rudder and fastenings, or simply to row. All materials and tools are provided, with the exception of oars, sails and finished paint. Due to extended periods of dry time, you'll leave with your boat project completed, ready for an easy at-home paint job. Discussions about pram sailing techniques will be discussed throughout the course, as students build at a leisurely pace, ensuring enough time for coffee breaks and a lot of laughter. Students may bring a partner to help (at no additional cost). To help the instructor order adequate materials, registration for this course is requested within six weeks prior to the start date.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR THIS COURSE IS AUGUST 1, 2011.
