Community Cooking with the Cook County Co-op

North House and the Co-op have joined forces to teach three flavorful cooking classes this spring. Don't miss this chance to learn new tastes and techniques!

These one-day classes are affordable and scheduled in the evenings to make it easier for locals to attend. Come check out the view from North House's kitchen classroom right on the lake and add new recipes to your cooking repertoire.

Cooking with the Cook County Co-op: Mulligatawny Soup February 7
This delectable soup is often requested at the co-op! Mulligatawny contains chicken, vegetables, apples and rice. In this cooking class brought to you by the co-op deli, we’ll explore how to make this delicious soup along with a few variations which draw inspiration from the soup’s South Indian roots. This class is a great family activity or a good excuse for a date night! Students age 12 and up are welcome with an adult.


Cooking with the Cook County Co-op: Breakfast for Dinner March 7
The perfect chance to perfect everyone’s favorite meal, BREAKFAST!  This class is an egg-celent opportunity for cooks of all experience levels to hop into the kitchen and get cracking on new skills! Class will focus on a variety of egg preparations, including basted and poached. This class is great for families, or for folks looking for a memorable evening. Students 12 and over are welcome with an adult.


Cooking with the Cook County Co-op: Fresh Spring Rolls April 4
The days are getting longer and the temps are (hopefully) getting higher. It’s time to think about spring... spring rolls that is! This popular appetizer has many variations across many cultures. This class will focus on the fresh shrimp and veggie variety. Using delicate knife cuts and folding technique you will create a wholesome treat that looks as good as it tastes. This class is great for couples, dinner party socialites, or the creative cook with an affinity for detail. Students age 12 and up are welcome with an adult.
