Jim Dahn

Jim is fascinated by traditional cultures and their inventive technologies, clothing and shelter. Jim has traveled into the heart of Mongolia, exploring the mountains and Little Gobi Desert where the ger, or yurt, culture reigns. From his travels, Jim created a documentary Say La Ger, that debuted at North House Folk School’s 2007 Arctic Film Festival. Jim has researched the footwear migration from Asia to America up to 1860. From his research, he has replicated five styles of American Indian moccasin and explores those patterns in courses he has offered for the past three years.
