Course Overview

Whether filled with granola or oats, Cheerios, or Frosted Flakes, a breakfast bowl is a welcome companion in the morning. Small wooden bowls are warm, tactile, and ready to personally customize with decorative carving or coloration. In this class students will have the opportunity to make several bowls from fresh birch and work with a variety of tools and technical approaches. The focus will be on completing one beautiful and unique bowl, but lots of practice and experimentation will guide the experience.

Ability Notes

A reasonable amount of hand strength and coordination will be required, but the various tools and techniques presented can allow for students representing a wide variety of skill levels to enjoy success.

Optional Tools

Feel free to bring any wood carving or decorating tools that you enjoy using.
