Leather Handbag Design & Sewing

Course Overview

Where did you get that bag? You can make it! Leather handbags are both durable and fashionable and need not have a fancy name brand to reflect your personal taste and preferences. Design and sew your very own handbags in this hands-on course with Molly Grant, who has been designing and sewing bags since she was 12 years old. Students will learn the basics of pattern making along with creative ways to make knots and straps. Learning the beginning steps of sewing on a portable industrial sewing machine, students can make up to three bags that will teach and build leatherworking skills: a small zippered bag, a "Molly bag" and a one-of-a-kind bag of their own design. Some sewing machine experience is helpful but not necessary.
