Course Overview

Join Molly Grant of the Cordwainer Shop to make a smart summer shoe: the Mercury Sandal. This stylish sandal features an open toe, a choice of ankle straps, and a buckle closure. The project can be entirely hand-sewn or partially completed on Molly’s antique industrial sewing machine. Students will be able to add a variety of personal touches to the vamp using fancy stitching or appliques. A variety of colors of leather will be available, offering many ways to personalize the Mercury. Some hand strength will be needed; sewing machine experience helpful but not required. Youth ages 15 and up can participate on their own; 12 and up are welcome with an adult.
