Course Overview


Learn the art of coiling a beautiful sweetgrass basket. Hands-on instruction provides students with an introduction to the traditions and skills of basket weaving, and a discussion about how to identify sweetgrass and gather materials for future projects. This course welcomes students ages 16+ to participate on their own; students 14-15 can participate if accompanied by an adult. No previous experience is needed.

This course is part of Basket Week 2024. Plan to arrive early and attend the Basket Gathering day, full of free talks, demonstrations and community gatherings on Friday, October 4. More information in summer 2024.
