Weaving Holiday Ornaments

Course Overview

Celebrate the upcoming holidays and make ornaments with fragrant sweetgrass and pine needles while learning the art of coiling, plaiting, and more. We'll incorporate birch bark, beads, small ornaments, and pine cones to create a delightful array of seasonal ornaments. Hands-on instruction provides students with an introduction to the traditions and skills of coiled work and straw weaving, and the instructor will discuss how to identify and gather materials for future projects. No previous experience is necessary, just enthusiasm to learn. Students ages 14 and up may register for this course independently.

This course is part of Basket Week 2024. Arrive early to participate in Basket Gathering Day on Friday, October 4, which features free talks, demonstrations and community gatherings. Full schedule available early summer.
