Born in the Celtic tree calendar month of Willow, Lee seemed fated to share her life with the genus ‘Salix’. Trained as an interpretive naturalist, she loves to share the natural world with others. She planted her first willow cuttings at her perennial flower nursery in NE Iowa in 1989. Together with her husband Lindsay, they have grown a sizeable willow patch, offering their willow to craftspeople across the country. Their own willow work combines functional and beautiful baskets with garden and fencing projects. Lee is excited to share her knowledge and experiences about basket making, willow lore, history, and culture with her students.
