Niilá Omma is duojár, a traditional Sámi craftsman, from Skelefteå, Sweden. His work in duodji began in his grandfather’s garage after long days of reindeer herding. He was hooked, and went on to study for two years at Sámij Åhpadusguovdásj, a Sámi school for traditional craft (duodji). He has been making duodji ever since, using mainly reindeer antler and birch to make knives, cups, boxes, jewelry and other traditional items. He sells his work in Sweden and internationally. 2024 is his first visit to North House Folk School.
